The Team : Morningstar’s Finance team is responsible for planning, forecasting, and analyzing the company’s financial results. The team works collaboratively with our business groups to support them with timely and insightful information to make informed business decisions. The Role : Morningstar Australasia requires a capable, detail-driven, and proactive Financial Accountant with great Payroll experience to work as part of the finance team to support our financial business operations and the business needs for a fixed term of 4 months, with possibility of extension to 12 months. We’re looking for a problem solver, a self-motivator and someone capable of jumping into this multi-faceted role to make an immediate impact. We are looking for someone who isn’t afraid to get into the weeds, and make meaningful contributions. This position is based in our Sydney office and reports to the Sr. Financial Accountant. Key Responsibilities: Payroll via ADP Review payroll Search for errors/omissions and inconsistencies in ADP system Process payroll journals Process leave provision journals Conduct EOFY review Provide payment summaries and/or pay advices to former and current employees as needed Reset passwords for employees as required Expense Management via Concur Approve Concur reports Process weekly Concur journals and adjustments Reset passwords for employees as required Accounts Payable Responsibilities Answer queries from the Financial Shared Services (FSS) team in India regarding coding and approvers. Scan and email invoices to FSS that come by post Review Cash Requirements Reports Draw cheques as needed Prepare and submit monthly returns for statutory payments - GST, withholding tax, payroll tax, PAYE and other payroll related payments to the Inland Revenue Department Account Receivable Debt collection Deposit Bank cheques Draw cheques as needed Provide outstanding debtors report for monthly renewals meeting Month End Process journals Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations Approve and post team member journals Review balance sheet reconciliations prepared by other team members Prepare Travel & Entertainment dashboard Provide commentary in relation to expenses for the SOX report Fixed Assets Provide coding to FSS for prepayments Review month end reports run by FSS Conduct Concur and ADP inductions for new starters on how to use these systems Conduct the annual payroll tax reconciliation Perform other duties as necessary Requirements : In-depth experience with ERP systems (including Oracle Financials and/or Hyperion). Solid payroll knowledge, experience with ADP systems, and SAP Concur for expense management. 8+ years of related experience. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including vlookups, pivot tables, common formulas, conditional formatting. Excellent attention to detail and a strong customer centric mindset Strong organisational skills, a proactive approach, and a drive to meet required deadlines. Ability to effectively communicate financial concepts across all business functions. Strong analytical and lateral thinking abilities. Team orientated nature.
