Job Description


The Role  

In order to meet our strategic plans towards Pricing Excellence, we are looking for a Pricing Engine Specialist to join our Pricing team.  You will be responsible for delivering best in class pricing capability for the Australian Division, focusing on Consumer (beginning with Motor and Home insurance) and then later our Commercial portfolios across all our IAG brands.

You will join a major Pricing Engine transformation project at IAG which will involve leading the integration of actuarial pricing models into the Earnix rating engine and building the end to end pricing process including algorithms, monitoring and feedback loops.

Reporting to the Pricing Engine Manager, you will be joining a team of over 10 others who enjoy the challenge of working on a ground-breaking, innovative project with a high level of exposure across the organisation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build an end to end pricing process in Earnix that is best in class for all products across IAG, including:
  • Integrating actuarial pricing models (risk cost models and demand models) into the pricing process
  • Design of pricing algorithm in accordance with our Pricing Principles, feeding directly from actuarial pricing models
  • Implement algorithm simplification and improvements
  • Design and build of monitoring reports within Earnix
  • Design of pricing governance process, including around price change
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including Customer Labs, Product and Portfolio teams, to build relationships and knowledge along the journey towards best in class pricing
  • ​​​​​​​​​​Provide oversight of junior pricing analysts, guiding them during the delivery of project milestones
  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Share your technical knowledge to build team capability
  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Help develop a high performance team culture


Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of general insurance pricing experience
  • Qualified actuary or 1-2 exams away from qualification (preferable)
  • Familiarity with pricing techniques and models such as GLM, GBM
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to present technical information to broad audiences
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications including Excel
  • Experience with SAS, SQL, Python or equivalent
  • Tertiary qualification in a numerical or analytical subject (preferable)
  • Excellent written communication skills and ability to develop quality documents, including Business Case and post-implementation review reports
  • Displays multi-dimensional thinking when solving problems
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with people across IAG
