The Role

The purpose of the role is to support the Executive Manager Operational Risk in the implementation of the Group Operational Risk Framework (GORF), focusing on the organisation-wide approach to Risk in Change. Further, the role exists to support and advise the Second Line risk teams in the adoption of the risk in change approach as it aligns to the GORF, to act as a centre of excellence for Operational Risk and to support the consistent interpretation and application of the GORF and associated policies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a fit for purpose Risk in Change management framework for IAG, aligned to the Risk Management Strategy (RMS), Risk Management Framework (RMF) the GORF.
  • Provide independent second line oversight, challenge and advice for embedding the Risk in Change framework as well as the overall GORF and Operational Risk practices, through regular contact and dialogue with Business Risk Advisors, to ensure any issues or concerns are identified, escalated and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Working collaboratively across the Group to inform and recommend changes to the Group Operational Risk Frameworks, Policies and Procedures
  • In alignment with the GORF, provide appropriate guidance and independent oversight regarding the strength of the control environment and its’ alignment with approved Risk Appetite, including the development and maintenance of a consist set of controls and KRI’s (& RAS metrics) across the Group.
  • Identification of Group-wide themes, issues and emerging risks etc, liaising with Business Risk Advisors and broader Risk teams to make recommendations and ensuring coordinated, pragmatic and effective responses.
  • Support other Risk category owners in understanding how Operational Risks may impact these categories and collaborate effectively to ensure that these Risks are mitigated within Risk appetite and tolerance levels.
  • Monitoring and improving the quality of risk data, including Risk Profiles, Controls and Action tracking, to ensure the consistency, validity and integrity of data can be relied upon for aggregation, monitoring, assessment and reporting across the Group.
  • Develop and nurture culture and talent across IAG, promote IAG's values and apply IAG's leadership principles in support of IAG's strategic intent

 

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of Operational Risk Management experience in a senior role in either first or second line
  • Expertise in Risk in Change as demonstrated through implementation / execution of risk in change frameworks
  • Experience in the implementation and execution of an Operational Risk Framework in a Financial Services business (Insurance, Banking, Superannuation)
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across whole of function and broader group to reach a common approach
  • Proven ability to successfully execute and deliver on complex items with tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated business acumen with the ability to translate risk theory into practical application which supports uplift in risk maturity
  • Experience in project delivery, change programs or similar
