The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic passionate and experienced Principal HSE Advisor to join our large government contract in NSW based at Seven Hills.

 

Reporting to the HSE Manager you will be accountable for the interpretation of the frameworks, systems and processes that enable the performance and compliance and for the transference of this knowledge into the business. You will  actively  partner with the operational  managers  and  teams  in  the  creation  of  HSE  plans  that  improve performance leading to operational excellence and address compliance. Also you will lead, coach, mentor, advise and support operational staff in the development and application of their Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) knowledge, on and off the job.

 

Key responsibilities includes (not limited to):

 

  • Liaise with Client and Government agency safety personnel regarding OH&S and environmental issues, risks and hazards assessment that occur in the workplace, work method risk assessment, public safety and other related matters on an ongoing basis.
  • Act as primary point of contact with on-site operational and client management on site-related HSE matters.       
  • Advise and support line management in meeting their obligations under the current Workplace Health and Safety legislation
  • Ensure site inductions for employees of Broadspectrum, subcontractors and site visitors contain relevant and mandatory HSE content           
  • Facilitate the delivery of mandatory and contractual HSE training for all levels of the workforce.
  • Work with Quality and Performance Excellence team to provide HSE expertise in the audit of the project and its works to an agreed schedule and cooperate with client and statutory agencies in auditing safety and environmental procedures. Report the findings and corrective/preventive actions for implementation.
  • Analyse audit results for trends and areas of focus for attention and input into plans.
  • Facilitate and/or provide investigation services dependent on the nature and severity of the incident. Analyse for trends and areas of focus to be addressed by preventive and corrective action as agreed with the operations teams.
  • Interrogate the IMS system for trends and extract timely safety, quality and environmental lagging and leading data for inclusion in reports as required.

 

To be successful in this role you will have a Diploma/Cert IV in Occupational Health and Safety and suitable experience in HSE in a large organisation. You must have a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Work Safe Return to Work Coordinator accreditation or Safety, or Quality or Environmental Auditor accreditation. You must have comprehensive knowledge of current Workplace Health and Safety legislation and knowledge of relevant, specific industry practices would be advantageous. This role will require you to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with strong conflict resolution skills. Please note this role might require some Domestic travel.
