Here’s where you come in…

Reporting to the Senior Analyst, Investments Tax Management you will assist in performing the monthly governance program of JPM records including:

  • Review expenses for deductibility and GST refunds
  • Review of transaction types to ensure that they are processed correctly (including income, gains / losses, FX transactions etc)
  • Review processing of unlisted assets to achieve the correct tax and accounting result
  • Review of foreign withholding taxes to ensure that we have been taxed in accordance with various country and DTA rates (including understanding what taxes should be applied in each jurisdiction for both income and gains)

You will also assist in any of the monthly/quarterly/ annual tasks associated with the Fund as directed including:

  • Enter raw data into the tax provision file and maintain the rolling file
  • Allocate to all sector levels the under/over provision allocation of the completed ITR (Income Tax Return).
  • PAYG investments income calculation
  • GST adjustments to be reflected in the monthly BAS returns

You will assist in the collation of investment information for the annual tax return including reviewing the unlisted and listed present entitlement report. Where necessary you will assist in the preparation of foreign tax documentation to obtain foreign tax relief where applicable. On a needs basis, you will get involved in mergers and portfolio take-ons such as testing the data integrity of security set ups and the reconciliation of transitional accounts for all incoming mergers and portfolio take-ons.

You’ll need… Tertiary qualifications in Business or Accounting disciplines. Strong analytical skills and ability to persist with tasks that require a high attention to detail; and an understanding of accounting and taxation principles. You will aspire to obtain further qualifications - CPA or ACA membership, you are a self-starter and are comfortable working in a small team.
