We are currently seeking an experienced HSE Advisor for our Surat Basin business, local Chinchilla / Dalby and Roma applicants to apply

 

About the Role

 

To actively partner the operational managers and teams in the creation of HSE plans that improve performance leading to operational excellence and address compliance.

To lead, coach, mentor, advise and support operational staff in the development and application of their Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) knowledge, on and off the job.

To lead a small team by way of coordination of HSE Advisors in support of operational needs. 

 

Tasks & Accountabilities

  • Liaise with Client and Government agency safety personnel regarding OH&S and environmental issues, risks and hazards assessment that occur in the workplace, work method risk assessment, public safety and other related matters on an ongoing basis.
  • Offer Advice and support line management in meeting their obligations under the current Workplace Health and Safety legislation.
  • Ensure site inductions for employees of Broadspectrum, subcontractors and site visitors contain relevant and mandatory HSE content.
  • Facilitate the delivery of mandatory and contractual HSE training for all levels of the workforce. 
  • Work with Quality and Performance Excellence team to provide HSE expertise in the audit of the project and its works to an agreed schedule and cooperate with client and statutory agencies in auditing safety and environmental procedures. Report the findings and corrective/preventive actions for implementation.
  • Analyse audit results for trends and areas of focus for attention and input into plans.
  • Facilitate and/or provide investigation services dependent on the nature and severity of the incident. Analyse for trends and areas of focus to be addressed by preventive and corrective action as agreed with the operations teams. 
  • Coordinate workplace safety committee meetings and act as adviser on health, safety and environmental matters.
  • Source and/or prepare toolbox safety and environmental talks addressing issues as raised or identified. Attend as appropriate.
  • Partner the operations teams to ensure any non-conformance or deficiency in HSE programs or practices are reviewed and appropriate corrective actions taken to prevent recurrence. 
  • Support the documentation of Project specific HSE process and procedures as necessary.
  • Liaise as necessary with the Claims Administrator to support effective development of return to work programs for injured employees, and act as the site based return to work coordinator as per client requirements.
  • Partner the implementation of HSE requirements in the subcontractor engagement process including questionnaire review and assessment.
  • Task HSE Advisors in support of the day-to-day HSE function and operational needs.
  • Act as primary point of contact with on-site operational and client management on site-related HSE matters.
  • Contribute to the HSE monthly reporting process

Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

 

  • Diploma/Cert IV Occupational Health and Safety or significant experience in Health, Safety and/or Environment disciplines in large organisations
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Work Safe Return to Work Coordinator accreditation
  • Site base Rehabilitation Coordinator accreditation
  • Safety, or Quality or Environmental Auditor accreditation
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current Workplace Health and Safety legislation
  • Knowledge of relevant, specific industry practices would be advantageous
  • Awareness of Industrial Relations environment
  • High level of computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Aconex and SharePoint
