Based in the Illawarra, Broadspectrum’s ‘NSW Industrial’ business group provides a range of contract maintenance and miscellaneous services work for a variety of Clients. Working within the BlueScope Plant Maintenance Contract an opportunity exists for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator to join the BOS Asset Team within Slabmaking.

 

The Slabmaking Department at Port Kembla is responsible for the conversion of blast furnace iron and steel scrap into molten steel and then casting into slabs. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive mechanical knowledge to effectively coordinate maintenance activities and improvement initiatives. This role is responsible for maximising uptime performance and maintaining and improving plant condition at minimum cost, whilst ensuring zero harm (safety and environment).

 

The Role

This position will foremost be accountable for breakdown, inspection and maintenance project delivery with a key focus on achieving safety, quality, critical equipment uptime and operational efficiency objectives.  Key duties include:

  • Actively drive the implementation and application of BlueScope’s manufacturing maintenance processes, practices and systems with an emphasis on eliminating repeated and/or duplicated effort.
  • Contribute to the overall asset strategy of equipment in area of responsibility and develop maintenance plans to deploy agreed asset strategy.
  • Prepares task documentation to enable safe task execution, effective implementation of asset strategy, efficient use of equipment down time and lowest possible cost.
  • Manage maintenance service providers to ensure maintenance work is executed safely and to specification whilst continuing to improve tool time, lower costs and improve quality.

 

The Person

You could be someone who has proven experience in a similar role. Alternatively, you could be looking to take the next step in your career and possess sound mechanical maintenance experience combined with project management skills.

 

To be successful in this role the following qualification, licences, skills and experience is required:

  • Trade and Diploma Qualification or Mechanical Engineering Qualification
  • White Card (or general construction induction card)
  • NSW Drivers Licence
  • Demonstrated commitment to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards
  • Heavy industry experience with solid mechanical aptitude
  • Experience in the application of maintenance management systems and processes
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Results driven
  • Effective organisational and communication skills
  • The ability to develop and maintain good working relationships
  • Experience in MS Project and SAP would be desirable
