The Role:

Broadspectrum currently has an opportunity for a skilled and experienced People Manager who will join the Broome team, in Western Australia. This position will require you to ensure the correct deployment of staff and be responsible for the performance and management of the Care & Custody Officers within your team.

 Your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Managing Broome Court, Inter-prison transfers, movements to and from Prison, airport transfers, funeral escorts and medical/ hospital appointments.
  • Preparing rosters, including allocating daily duties to staff
  • Ensuring all Broadspectrum policies and procedures are adhered too
  • Managing staff hours to fit budget requirements
  • Managing performance and personal development
  • Supervising the handling of Persons in Custody to ensure everyone is dealt with humanely, and with dignity and respect
  • Building and maintaining relationships with third party stakeholders such as Court staff, Police, Prisons etc.
  • Ensuring all  legal paperwork is checked at your site 
  • Travel will be required on small aircrafts

The Candidate:

As the Care and Security Manager, you will be working from the Broome court, in uniform and will be personally responsible for the safe, secure and efficient performance of the court.

You should be able to demonstrate the ability to deal with people from a diverse range of backgrounds in a flexible, confident manner, as well as how to communicate effectively and manage conflict or challenging situations.

This position will require your commitment to treat everyone with dignity and respect and provide effective performance management and staff motivation at all times. You’ll be able to prioritise readily and operate effectively under pressure.

 In addition, you should currently have:

  • People management experience
  • Significant attention to detail
  • Exceptional inter-personal skills
  • Possess a non-judgmental, empathetic approach to Persons in Custody
  • High safety and security focus
  • Maintain a reasonable level of fitness to undertake the job
  • Hold a Manual Driving Licence (MR or above high desirable)
