About the role
Broadspectrum is currently seeking a Roads Inspector to join our Amey Broadspectrum team. You will be responsible for undertaking Safety, Routine Scheduled,  Prompted Inspections and condition surveys of the roads to capture defects and ensure that works are completed in accordance with contractual specifications. This will support the effective and efficient management of resources, and achieve the targets and goals set by the program.  We require the candidate to be an advocate of technology and its role in the workplace. We provide comprehensive training on new electronic tools and innovative plant and equipment that has a role in making our work safer and more efficient. For example, the successful candidate will be required to gain a remote pilots licence to operate our fleet of inspection and surveying drones.

As the successful candidate in this role, some of your core responsibilities will include;

  • Undertaking safety /defect inspections to record defects that affect the safety and/or integrity of the network using a variety of technologies, including smart inspection vehicles and remotely piloted drones 
  • Investigating and reporting on enquiries from the public and other stakeholders
  • Assisting in the management of the Asset inventory by undertaking Asset condition surveys
  • Supporting the monitoring of contractors, subcontractors and third parties to ensure compliance with specifications and contractual requirements
  • Assisting in the compilation of records, including inventory information to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of  Roads Programs of Work
  • Developing knowledge of WRU design procedures, codes and specifications together with effective quality assurance
  • Proactively monitoring the performance of completed works and known ‘hot spots’
  • Developing joint understanding of network service levels by working closely with Surveillance Officers 

Your experience should include but not limited to;

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction, engineering or other industry related field
  • One or more of the below qualifications is highly desirable:
  • Maintenance Pavements (M2-PW)
  • Maintenance Roadsides (M2-RW)
  • Maintenance Works-Minor (M1) 
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction or related discipline
  • Awareness of Asbestos / hazardous materials identification and management processes
  • First Aid training
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Experience in dealing directly with the public and other stakeholders in a professional manner
  • Valid Driver’s Car Licence
  • CASA remote pilot licence (RePL) is desirable
  • Medium computer literacy (Internet, MS Office applications, database management, document control)
