Job Description

Broadspectrum are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter/Technician to support the execution of our Water Cooling Tower project in Olympic Dam. 
The role will oversee the project, maintenance and shutdown activities autonomously or as instructed, and ensure that HSE, efficiency and Quality goals and objectives are met and maintained on the QGC sites. 


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. 
  • Execute and support install, repair, maintain, test, modify, commission and fault find work scopes to your level of competency within the mechanical discipline.
  • Complete tasks to the set standards and OEM guidelines.
  • Work closely with the Trade Assistants to ensure they are working to the level of their competency.
  • As directed train, mentor and support development of team members.
  • Work closely with the operations team to achieve project performance targets.
  • Follow procedures and highlight where revisions to procedures are required. 
  • Work under limited supervision either individually or in a team environment.
  • Carry out isolation within your competencies and qualifications.
  • Assist other teams in whatever way necessary to achieve the goals, within your competencies and ability.
  • Identify and recommend improvements on project execution methodology and processes.
  • Participate in improvement studies within the Brownfield Project team.
  • Maintain high levels of documentation and record keeping both written and system based.
  • Take immediate corrective action to prevent injury or prevent recurrence of at-risk behaviour.
  • Protect the environment in all areas, both inside and outside of your direct control.
  • Prepare and participate in the preparation of risk assessments, work method statements and / or job safety analysis.
  • Work to minimise wastage of spares and consumables.
  • Work to optimise operating and maintenance costs.
  • Perform all or any other duties reasonably required by management from time to time.

Key Experiences & Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years Oil & Gas experience in a similar position. 
  • Certificate 3 Mechanical Fitting OR Trade Certification Mechanical Fitting
  • Flange Management
  • Competent reading and interpreting Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (PNIDs)
  • Ability to multi task together with significant hands on experience.     
  • Current drivers licence.
  • Current MR License (preferred)
  • Dogman Ticket (preferred)
  • Vehicle Loading Crane (CV) Ticket (preferred)
  • EWP Ticket (Preferred)
  • Current Construction White Card Certification
  • First Aid Certificate (preferred)
  • Ability to multi task together with significant hands on experience.     
  • Proven Quality Assurance knowledge
  • Proven Maintenance principles experience and application
  • Proven Experience in Permit to Work (PTW) procedures
  • Experience user of IT Systems
  • Good knowledge of HSE systems and procedures
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work as a member of a team. 
  • An ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders.
