The Company
Broadspectrum is working with our fellow Ferrovial Services’ company Amey to support the Netflow Consortium. This exciting project is Victoria’s largest single investment in arterial roads to date and includes road upgrades, duplicated lanes and road rehabilitation and maintenance for 20 years.
The Role
We are currently inviting applications for an Environment Coordinator to join our roads contract team for a 3 year fixed term position. 
The primary purpose of this role is to coordinate the implementation of the Environmental Management System to optimise environmental performance for the Western Roads Maintenance and Initial Rehab works contracts. Working with the Environment Manager for Roads, ensure compliance with client, legislation and internal environmental requirements. Environment Coordinator will perform a mix of environmental management system support in an office and site-based operational settings, coordinating sustainability reporting and supporting work teams.

As the successful candidate in this role, some of your core responsibilities will include;

  • Implement, monitor and continually improve the Environmental Management System
  • Liaise with the internal project team on environmental issues and communicate with specialist environmental consultants and contractors
  • Prepare revisions to Environmental Management Plans and procedures
  • Implement and monitor environmental strategies and action plans to achieve the environmental objectives
  • Assist the business to maintain compliance with environmental legislation and management system best practise
  • Provide consistent, accurate, and reliable environmental advice to the business and external organisations with support from the Environmental Manager - Roads
  • Provide technical advice and recommendations regarding best practice, management system and legislation
  • Maintain awareness of environmental legislation, best practice, industry trends, innovations and updates and promote and raise awareness within the business
  • Ensure knowledge regarding environmental issues and legislative requirements is disseminated throughout the business using lessons learned and alerts
  • Develop environmental awareness programs and ensure the content is delivered
  • Assist in the identification and reporting of environmental risks and facilitate the achievement of environmental best practice and risk minimisation across the business
  • Ensure environmental incident reporting is in line with legislation and contractual requirements
  • Assist in environmental incident investigations as appropriate including the review of incident reports

Your experience should include but not limited to;

  • Tertiary Qualification in Environmental Science/Management/Engineering or similar field
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • 1-2 years industry experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • High professional standards and strong attention to detail
  • A sound knowledge of environmental Standards, legislation and regulatory requirements
