Allwater is currently seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead and deliver safety and wellbeing programs with focus on advancing safe work behaviours and maximise accountability and engagement across corporate and field workforce. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a relational, strategic Health and Safety Manager to make a positive impact through partnering with Operational Managers, teams and our Client stakeholders to drive change, influence culture and bring about a behavioural safety focus.

As part of the People, Safety and Culture (PS&C) team, you will have support from your team, including a WHS Training & Development Specialist, and our Partners in delivering a program of Health, Safety and Wellbeing initiatives.  This is a permanent fulltime role based in the CBD office with sites located around the metropolitan area. You will enjoy the variety in working from the various sites as you engage with the workforce.

The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Compliance with WHS Legislation and Standards 
  • Demonstrate leadership in strategic Health & Safety by building and sustaining a safety culture with coaching and development initiatives 
  • Deliver the Health & Safety Plan objectives & KPIs 
  • Provide Functional Areas with specialist advice and support on Health & Safety matters to ensure consistency and compliance with legislation as a Self-Insured

Employer:

  • Develop and manage Health & Safety policies, management plans and procedures to ensure continuous improvement of safety management in the business 
  • Ensure systems meet the requirements of OHSAS 18001 AS/NZS 4801:2001 and integrate with other business systems including ISO 9001 and ISO14001 
  • Identifying and act upon key areas for improvement within Health & Safety 
  • Provide inputs to development of capital delivery projects; during project initiation, development, design, construction and handover phases 
  • Manage interface with Capital works delivery contractors to ensure safe construction activities on Allwater managed sites 
  • Monitoring of injury management process with Parent Company 

Skills & Experience:

  • Experienced Health & Safety leader with familiarity in Self-Insured environments 
  • In depth knowledge and practical understanding of South Australian WHS legislation & regulations across Workers Compensation, Injury Management and codes of practice across relevant industry 
  • Experienced in Safety Management System implementation with sound working knowledge of standards 
  • Relevant and current qualifications in Health & Safety management and Change Management 
  • Communication skills and the ability to persuade and guide others in a constructive manner 
  • A proven capacity to influence and deliver outcomes across multiple sites 

If you are the successful candidate you will possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, be adept in fostering positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will have a range of experience to draw upon, having worked in complex operating environments; ideally in Utilities sector.  You need to demonstrate a track record of successful leadership in the engagement, development and delivery of Health and Safety strategic and tactical objectives.
You will enjoy being part of the PS&C team but work autonomously with a strong customer service attitude, be polished and professional and engage equally comfortably across worksites and in corporate environments.  You will bring creative and innovative thinking to Safety initiatives and be personally driven to achieve outcomes.
