Job Description

The Aroona Alliance is a partnership between the Water Corporation, Suez and Broadspectrum working as one team to deliver operations, maintenance and asset management of the Perth metropolitan water and wastewater production and treatment assets.  Aroona’s vision is to drive operational performance and improve the water and wastewater services through its service objectives of Zero Harm, Value for Money, People Capability, Asset Management, Information Management and Water / Wastewater compliance. 

The Role

As a part of the Senior Leadership Team, the Manager Governance will be responsible for driving adherence to the Alliance policies and procedures.  The leadership team is jointly accountable to deliver on the suite of service objective strategies and targets.

You will ensure that the control and administration of the Alliance is transparent and that corporate policies and procedures are established and functioning within the Aroona Structure.  The role is to provide and be the subject matter expert and owner of the Quality and Risk frameworks required to deliver the governance functions and should report compliance to the systems and policies within the structure of the business.

If successful, you would be responsible for leading, coordinating and overseeing the delivery of the compliance functions of the Alliance including Compliance, Quality, Risk Management, Internal Audit, Systems Application and the Alliance Contract Management

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure the Governance team work in accordance with and supportive of the Alliance Strategy and direction.
  • Set context and role clarity for Team Members, lead the team in the delivery of the tasks, achieving goals, using Team Processes in problem solving and improvement work. 
  • Establish constructive culture in the team by demonstrating, modeling, and utilising appropriate leadership behavior, symbols and systems.  Maintain the right number of people within team with the right skills to meet the service objectives.
  • Improve the performance of direct reports through coaching, mentoring, training, instruction, advice, and direct example, ensure clarity of purpose and performance measures.
  • The primary accountability is to drive the transparency in the business by applying strong governance and compliance reporting. The role also, will support the organisation by providing a superior level of analysis.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success in governance, risk management and compliance analysis and reporting. 
  • Ability to engage people at all levels, including strong relationship management skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including the ability to conduct forensic analysis exercising high levels judgment.
  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Finance or Commerce related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of current corporate governance practices with extensive experience in business governance in a complex, public or private organisation
  • Line Management experience in a politically-sensitive or highly-regulated industry
  • High level of interpersonal, communicative and negotiation skills commensurate with a dynamic business in a politically and industrially sensitive environment.
