The role guides and shapes the strategic approach for quality assurance across all phases in the delivery lifecycle, advocating an automation-first approach. You are a passionate Test Automation Advocate who will own and be accountable for defining an IAG Group Technology wide enterprise automation test strategy and setting automation best practices across all platform teams in IAG Group Technology. You will bring innovative thought leadership around test automation and help drive the cultural change towards agile and modern delivery models as part of a large-scale transformation towards Continuous Delivery and Lean Governance principles.

You are up to date with latest industry trends in test automation and have experience influencing people and teams to implement test automation practices and managing benefits realisation working alongside them.

You will build reputation for IAG as the best place to work for talented technologists through speaking at conferences, getting published and being active in the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion and Advocate the vision and strategic direction for automation testing across IAG Group Technology
  • Provide technical thought leadership and strategic direction in building out the test automation strategy and frameworks based on a specific set of guiding principles, architectural recommendations, standards and best practice
  • Champion the use of good test automation practice methodologies among senior management and platform teams across Group Technology
  • Define, collaborate and get agreement from key stakeholders on delivery of automation principles, patterns and guidelines in line with CI/CD principles
  • Driving capability uplift in all levels of software delivery via automation
  • Build and maintain IAG Group Technology wide automation test artefacts including but not limited to automated regression, E2E and future progression capability

Skills & Experience

  • 8 + years relevant IT industry experience in within a complex technology operating environment
  • Extensive experience in defining and building automation test strategies and test frameworks along the entire Test Pyramid
  • Extensive experience and hands-on experience in designing and implementing test automation frameworks, test automation techniques, patterns and tooling
  • Powerful communication skills, including the ability to translate deep technical concepts into simple and easily understood business terms
  • Must be independent and self-directed but able to work and lead a team of technical individuals
  • Must have experience with Cucumber and/or Specflow, Java and/or C# and/or Ruby and Selenium Web Driver coupled with Strong OOPs knowledge
  • Knowledge across architecture disciplines, application development methodologies, tools and modern DevOps
  • Proven experience in business and IT relationship management; working in/with matrix structures and influencing senior business and technology leaders
  • Adaptive leadership, you get the importance of taking people with you along the journey and are able to influence and coach those around you to orchestrate team success.
