JustMums Recruitment Footscray VIC, Australia
Join an award winning in-house legal team in a newly created permanent, part-time role (3 days a week) About our client: Our client, a metropolitan health service with 5 major hospital campuses, provides a combination of hospital and community-based health services to Melbourne’s West. Services include public hospitals, a day hospital and a transition care program, as well as a variety of community based services. Their Legal Services team provide legal and internal compliance advice across the organisation. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced lawyer to join their team on a permanent, part-time basis. About the role: Each day is different – and at any one time it is not unusual for the Legal Services team to be working on a variety of medico-legal issues in the civil and coronial jurisdictions, monitoring internal legislative compliance and public sector governance, and assisting with the drafting, negotiation and review of major contracts. Reporting to the General Counsel (and working closely with the Contracts’ Legal Counsel, Medico-Legal Counsel and Graduate Legal Counsel), the Legal Counsel plays a vital role in supporting the effective management of the organisation’s contract legal risk and medico-legal risk for Legal Services, optimising the contract legal and medico-legal processes and outcomes, as well as liaising with internal and external stakeholders. The Legal Counsel is also responsible for monitoring and administering the organisations internal legal compliance system required to be implemented for all public health services in Victoria. About you: Qualified in law, you will have a strong understanding of contract law, terminology and principles – and a working knowledge and understanding of the Victorian public health system. Practical experience in a large law firm, in-house legal team or public hospital environment will be highly regarded. You will have highly refined communication skills and a proven ability to engage with team members at all levels. As this role will see you involved with key clients within the hospital, as well as external law firms and insurers, you must be a “people person”. Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills and ability to think laterally and strategically are essential, as well as the ability to work constructively and effectively both independently and within a team. Strong computer literacy skills, high attention to detail, demonstrated initiative and the ability to determine priorities and meet deadlines is also required. As a small team, it is imperative that you are a team player and willing to work with and assist other team members if and when required. What’s on offer: This is a permanent part-time role working three days a week (0.6) between 8.30am-5pm. There is flexibility on the days of work, but there is a requirement to work on Wednesday for a team meeting. Working in a close knit and supportive team (predominately of working parents) this is a great opportunity for an experienced lawyer seeking a flexible role who is either returning to the workforce from parental leave or seeking hands on legal experience in the health sector. Interviews will commence shortly and an immediate start is available.
